EXMOOR COTTAGE HOLIDAYS
The stone and slate Wisteria Cottage is the smallest cottage at Exmoor Cottage Holidays and is all on one level, ideal for those who have difficulty with stairs (although there are two steps up to the front and back doors). It has a spacious sitting room with log stove, and a separate living room with well equipped kitchen and dining area. There is a comfortable bedroom for two people + cot which can be arranged either as a king-size double or twin, and a large enclosed private garden. Wisteria Cottage is perfect for your holiday on Exmoor and in North Devon.
Wisteria Cottage, a stone built barn with a stone extension, was completed in 2012. The cottage is extremely well-insulated and double-glazed and is very warm and comfortable. The furnishings and decorations are all in a traditional style and there are polished wooden doors and several charming exposed beams.
The sitting room has a log stove (with a back boiler) and large double glazed folding doors leading out to a private garden. There is a large sofa and upright chair and digital Freeview TV with DVD/CD player.
The separate living room faces east and west. There is a dining area with dining table and chairs and a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need (electric oven, hob, hood, fridge with large freezer compartment, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery, etc.) and many extras such as washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. You are also welcome to use the laundry room on site which has a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. Heating is from electric night storage radiators; an instant heater in the shower room; and optionally, a log stove in the living room (with a back boiler that heats a radiator/towel rail in the shower room). Hot water is provided by an immersion heater (and optionally, by the back boiler).
The bedroom has a ziplink bed that can be arranged as a king sized double, or as a twin. There are bedside wall-lights and cabinets, a chest of drawers with a mirror above, and a wardrobe. The beds are made for your arrival with duvets, pillows and fresh linen (blankets are also provided). The shower room has an airing cupboard, WC, hand basin and a shower in a large cubicle.
Outside the cottage is a private decked area and (two steps down) a large enclosed garden with a picnic table. The garden is surrounded by charming hedges and has a willow tree and a Victoria plum. There are gates on either side; to the shared grounds and to a quiet country lane. There is plenty of parking on site nearby (and you are welcome to drive up to the front door in the courtyard to load and unload).

We don’t just provide self-catering accommodation, but a beautiful place to stay and personal attention usually found only in B&B’s and hotels so that you can get the very most from your holiday. We are usually on site every day for your enquiries and leave a free basket of logs and kindling in the cottage (more is usually available) and we are happy to light your fire and show you how to keep it going.
The large grounds have a wildlife pond and lovely walks up to Humphrey’s Hill where there is a children’s play area and a wildflower meadow ideal for exercising dogs. There is a bird-feeder outside each cottage (filled daily), some tame ducks on the pond, and you are welcome to help yourself to any of the fruits and herbs in the grounds (not everything is edible, please ask if unsure).
We know North Devon and Exmoor well and are very happy to help you plan your days out, show you the best walks and places to visit on an Ordnance Survey map (which you may borrow) and help you make arrangements with local businesses, e.g. taxi, vehicle repairs, sight-seeing tours, horse-riding lessons, restaurants, fishing trips, etc., and we always have some special deals arranged for our guests. We also offer towel and linen hire, self-cook evening meals (home-made by our local shop, who can also deliver groceries for your arrival) and other house-keeping services including full cottage cleaning, B&B and baby-sitting – but if you just want self-catering and don’t need our help, then that’s OK too!Download the Access Statement and Floor Plan for Wisteria Cottage
