EXMOOR COTTAGE HOLIDAYS
Garden Cottage is the second-smallest cottage for hire at Exmoor Cottage Holidays and is all on one level, ideal for those who have difficulty with stairs. It has a spacious living room with multifuel stove, a well equipped kitchen, enclosed private garden and two bedrooms which will accommodate up to four people + cot.
Garden Cottage was converted from a stone farm building in the 1980's and was renovated in 2007 with a new kitchen and wet room, and the roof was insulated. The furnishings and decorations are all in a traditional style and there are many charming features such as exposed ceiling beams and wooden doors.
The double glazed French doors in the living room lead to a fully enclosed private garden with a picnic table and a gate to a quiet country lane (there are 2 steps out to the garden and a step up and down through the gate). There is plenty of parking on site nearby (and you are welcome to drive up to the main door in the courtyard to load and unload).
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need (electric oven, hob, hood, fridge with freezer box, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery, etc.) and many extras such as microwave and coffee maker.
The living room faces west and has a multi fuel stove, digital Freeview TV, a DVD/CD player, and plenty of seating with a sofa and two chairs and a dining table and chairs. Heating is from electric night storage radiators; an instant electric heater in the wetroom; and optionally, a log stove in the living room. Hot water is provided by an immersion heater.
The double bedroom has bedside lamps, a storage compartment under the bed and a built in antique wardrobe with a large drawer. The twin bedroom has a built in wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a storage compartment under each bed. Please be aware that space in the bedrooms is limited.
The beds are all made for your arrival with duvets, pillows and fresh linen (blankets also provided). The wetroom has a shower, WC, hand basin and heated towel rail and there are grip handles beside the shower and the WC.
Garden Cottage is supplied with cleaning materials and equipment and a complimentary Welcome Pack with some essentials that you may have forgotten – some tea, coffee, sugar & a pint of fresh milk, tea towels, dishcloths, toilet roll, bin bags, shampoo and conditioner. There is free WiFi in the cottage, a comprehensive information book (with lots of information about the cottage and the surrounding area) and a large selection of attraction leaflets. There is a laundry room on site which you are welcome to use during the day with a washing machine, tumble drier, and iron and ironing board.

We don’t just provide self-catering accommodation, but a beautiful place to stay and personal attention usually found only in B&B’s and hotels so that you can get the very most from your holiday. We are usually on site every day for your enquiries and leave a free basket of logs and kindling in the cottage (more is usually available) and we are happy to light your fire and show you how to keep it going.
The large grounds have a wildlife pond and lovely walks up to Humphrey’s Hill where there is a children’s play area and a wildflower meadow ideal for exercising dogs. There is a bird-feeder outside each cottage (filled daily), some tame ducks on the pond, and you are welcome to help yourself to any of the fruits and herbs in the grounds (not everything is edible, please ask if unsure).
We know North Devon and Exmoor well and are very happy to help you plan your days out, show you the best walks and places to visit on an Ordnance Survey map (which you may borrow) and help you make arrangements with local businesses, e.g. taxi, vehicle repairs, sight-seeing tours, horse-riding lessons, restaurants, fishing trips, etc., and we always have some special deals arranged for our guests. We also offer towel and linen hire, self-cook evening meals (home-made by our local shop, who can also deliver groceries for your arrival) and other house-keeping services including full cottage cleaning, B&B and baby-sitting – but if you just want self-catering and don’t need our help, then that’s OK too!Download the Access Statement and Floor Plan for Garden Cottage
