The Gatehouse was converted from a stone built farm building in the 1980's and was renovated in 2008 with a new kitchen and bathroom and the roof and external walls were insulated. The furnishings and decorations are all in a traditional style and there are many charming features such as exposed beams and wooden doors.

French doors open out from the living room to a delightful fully enclosed garden area with a gate to the courtyard and a path that winds through the flower beds to a large fenced decking with a picnic table. There is plenty of parking on site nearby (and you are welcome to drive up to the main door, or to the French doors, to load and unload).

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need (electric oven, hob, hood, fridge with freezer box, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery, etc.) and many extras such as microwave, caffetiere and a dishwasher. You are welcome to use the laundry room on site which has a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.

The double bedroom has a large chest of drawers, a bookshelf, bedside cupboards and lamps, and storage under the bed. There is a large wardrobe and an airing cupboard on the upstairs landing. The triple bedroom has a single bed, two large bunks with built in lights, a chest of drawers and a dressing table. The beds are made for your arrival with duvets, pillows and fresh linen (blankets are provided).

Also in the cottage is a comprehensive information book about the Gatehouse and the surrounding area. We are happy to help you plan your day and arrange  activities such as horse riding, guided tours, fishing, taxi service, dog kennelling, etc.

Dogs are welcome and there is a delightful walk on site up and around Humphrey's Hill.
