Dog friendly cottages in North Devon & Exmoor

The charming stone-built cottages are in the peaceful village of Challacombe, within the Exmoor National Park, and have been converted from a medieval farm. Surrounding the cottages are large gardens with a delightful circular walk up and around Humphrey's Hill, ideal for exercising your dogs. There is a lovely walk through a beech forest to an old church, and many paths lead to the tops of the surrounding hills, where there are breathtaking views and lots of interesting places to visit, including Shoulsbury, an Iron Age hillfort; Pinkery Pond, source of the river Barle; charming Challacombe reservoir; and Radworthy, an abandoned farmstead near the source of the river Bray.

If you wish, you can walk all day across Exmoor and arrange for the unique Moor Rover to collect you and your dogs and bring you back to your cottage. The local butcher at Besshill Farm sells pigs ears and marrow bones, which dogs love, and near to Besshill is Wistlandpound reservoir, where there is an lovely circular walk around a 41 acre reservoir. Dogs are welcome in the local pub and are generally welcome throughout rural North Devon and Exmoor. If you do want to go somewhere special without your dog, then kennelling is available in the village.
