	The Farmhouse overlooks the peaceful courtyard		The luxury C16th luxury Farmhouse is the largest cottage for hire at Exmoor Cottage Holidays. It has a spacious sitting room with an inglenook fireplace and log burning stove; a large dining room; well equipped kitchen with Rayburn cooker; laundry room with downstairs WC and three upstairs bedrooms that can very comfortably accommodate up to six people. The Farmhouse is ideal for your luxury UK holiday in North Devon and Exmoor. The Farmhouse was originally built as a traditional Devon longhouse, just one storey high with a cross passage in the centre. The family lived to one side (the 'upperside') and their animals the other (the 'lowerside'). The second storey was added in the early C18th. The Farmhouse retains many of its period features and the sitting room has a stone flagged floor and an impressive inglenook fireplace with two bread ovens.
	The Farmhouse is extremely spacious for a holiday rental and has the special atmosphere of a place where people have lived for a long time. The Farmhouse was renovated in 2007 with a new kitchen and laundry room and the roof was insulated. The furnishings and decorations are all in a traditional style and where possible old features have been retained. Some of the electric light switches for example are the round Bakerlite type from the 1950's. There are fully enclosed private gardens to the front and rear with a picnic table and a stone built barbeque. There is plenty of parking on site nearby (you are welcome to drive into the courtyard to load and unload). Dogs are welcome and there is a delightful walk on site up and around Humphrey's Hill. 	Farmhouse kitchen with Rayburn cooker		The Farmhouse has a very well equipped kitchen with everything you need (electric oven, hob, hood, fridge, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery, etc.) and many extras such as microwave, coffee maker, freezer, dishwasher and best of all, an oil fired Rayburn which provides constant hot water and can be used for slow cooking. There is a separate laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron & ironing board, mop, bucket, vacuum cleaner, and a downstairs WC and hand basin. All of the main rooms have electric night storage heaters and there are instant electric heaters in the dining room, the bath room and the shower room. The hot water can be topped up if necessary by an immersion heater.
	The spacious sitting room faces south and overlooks the small front garden. There is a log burning stove in the inglenook fireplace, a digital Freeview TV, a DVD/CD/VCR player and plenty of comfortable seating with two large sofas and two upright chairs. The large dining room faces west and overlooks the private garden. The walls are panelled up to window height, and there is an impressive oak table and chairs, a hostess trolley, small sofa and a second Freeview TV. The bedrooms all face south overlooking the peaceful courtyard and the beds are made for your arrival with duvets, pillows and fresh linen (blankets are also provided). The bedrooms all have built in wardrobes and bedside lamps. The double bedroom also has an airing cupboard, a chest of drawers and a dressing table; the large twin bedroom has two chests of drawers and a charming school desk; and the smaller twin bedroom has a large dressing table and storage drawers below the beds.
	There is a large bath room with a corner bath, a WC, hand basin and heated towel rail, and a separate shower room with an electric shower, WC and hand basin. The Farmhouse is supplied with cleaning materials and equipment and a complimentary Welcome Pack with some essentials - a few hot drinks, tea towels, dishcloths and a toilet roll. Also provided in the Farmhouse is a comprehensive information book about the cottage and the surrounding area.
